Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Rongai Gate to Rongai One Cave Camp

Drive from Moshi/Arusha to the Rongai Gate. Begin your trek through gorgeous pine forests and rolling moorlands, spotting local wildlife as you ascend gently to First Cave Camp.

Day 2 Rongai One Cave to Second Cave Camp

Continue ascending across the moorland zone with magnificent panoramic views of Kibo peak and the eastern ice fields. Arrive at Second Cave Camp for dinner and rest.

Day 3 Second Cave to Kikewa Cave / Kibo Hut

Climb steadily toward the saddle sitting between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. Take in the dramatic alpine desert landscape before reaching Kibo Hut to prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 4 Summit Push to Uhuru Peak & Descent to Horombo Hut

Begin the midnight summit push up steep scree slopes to Gilman's Point, then along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Enjoy sunrise at the Roof of Africa before descending back down to Horombo Hut.

Day 5 Final Descent to Marangu Gate & Transfer

Enjoy a final breakfast on the mountain, complete your descent through the lush rainforest to Marangu Gate, receive your summit certificates, and transfer back to your hotel.
